This solo was originally written as a tri-tom solo in a drumline feature for the Valiant Knights. (That drumline did a good job with it too!!!) It was meant to be played quite fast, (Dotted half note = 60 – 72 m.m.) Using a quarter note as the beat makes it feel lumbersome and could plod along. A good goal to aim for is to get to the point that the measures fly by with the triplet pulse being further divided into more triplets.

For that matter, rhythms throughout the piece should have a jazz-feel, making rhythms fit that smaller triplet feel.
