Percussion Construction
for snare drum

Other solo works can be found in the "Percussion Construction" series of beginning snare drum solos from RBC Publications in San Antonio, Texas.  They use the rhythm of words to teach basic 16th note rhythm patterns. When you look at some of these solos notice that the title word is in the rhythm that is focused on for study.

Particularly good examples of this are the solos:

  • Machinery   (four 16ths)

  • Pile Driver  (one 8th - two 16ths)

  • Riveting      (two 16ths - one 8th)

  • Pour the Concrete   (dotted eighth - 16th)

  • Checking the Blueprints   (16th - 8th - 16th - 8th - 8th)

The other solos incorporate these rhythms in traditional musical forms, (i.e. rondo, sonatina, etc.)

  • Get the Job Done

  • Making the Deadline

  • Checking the Blueprints

  • Riveting-The Second Shift

  • Pile Driver-The Second Shift

  • Machinery - The Second Shift

  • Pour the Concrete - The Second Shift

  • Checking the Blueprints - The Second Shift

  • Stacking Brick

  • Sand Blasting the Walls

  • The Job Gets Done

Review them; they are a great way to teach form!! You can order any of these "Percussion Construction" solos at: rbcmusic.com/RBCpubinst.htm
