Percussion
Construction
for snare drum
Other solo
works can be found in the
"Percussion
Construction"
series of beginning snare drum solos from
RBC Publications in
San Antonio, Texas. They use the rhythm of words to teach
basic 16th note rhythm patterns. When you look at some of
these solos notice that the title word is in the rhythm that
is focused on for study.
Particularly good examples of this are the solos:
-
Machinery
(four 16ths)
-
Pile Driver
(one 8th - two 16ths)
-
Riveting
(two 16ths - one 8th)
-
Pour the
Concrete (dotted eighth - 16th)
-
Checking the
Blueprints (16th - 8th - 16th - 8th - 8th)
The other
solos incorporate these rhythms in traditional musical forms,
(i.e. rondo, sonatina, etc.)
