Of course flams are a big deal!  Keep the grace note of all flams close to the drumhead as possible.  (That’s just the way I like it to look when I see someone else perform this solo!)

Invent other visuals to use in this solo.  (Example:  Dropping the right hand to the side of the drum and raising it slowly on the crescendo of the left hand notes in measure four looks cool!)

Make sure all rolls are double bounce rolls in a rudimental style.

Use a wide contrast on the dynamics throughout.  Overdo the “housetop” accents during the soft sections.  It’s neat to have an accented note show up where you do not expect it.
